Our new chapter: A 100% employee-owned agency
We are excited to announce that we are now 100% employee-owned, through the establishment of an Emp…
Last month, we closed our laptops, turned off our computers, turned on our Out Of Office replies and unlocked the RKH Cabinet of Curiosities for our inaugural company away day! Taking place at Brick & Beam, an amazing space in the centre of Leicester, the much-hyped away day was a fantastic opportunity for us all to get together, have some fun and learn some useful things, too.
When the event was announced, we were all kept in the dark as to the reason behind the name. In the days leading up to the away day, we found out that it was a reference to the importance of curiosity in strategy, research and creativity. Then, it was revealed the cabinet was full of excellent speakers.
Gabby is the brains behind Cool As Leicester, the city’s number one account for food, drink, culture and event insights. Gabby gave us the inside track on influencer marketing including the main dos and don’ts, understanding payments, and the three Rs: Reach, Relevance, and Resonance.
Alex had fascinating insights and stories about theatre fundraising and relationship management from his role at Donmar Warehouse. As someone who meets people from every walk of life, including MPs, royalty and many a celebrity, Alex spoke of the importance of balancing who you are with the person that your clients will relate to.
We’re no strangers to brilliant creative portfolios, but Miles’ was something else. With 70 slides of his amazing logo and typography work for some of the biggest brands in the world - Unilever, Honda, Jaguar, Burger King, McLaren, and Uber Eats to name just a few - Miles had us all awestruck with the calibre of his work.
Also known as Uh Oh, local graffiti artist Nick got us to tap into our own artistic sides, challenging us to create some artistic interpretations of life at RKH. Nick’s workshop was top quality - the same can’t be said for some of the pieces we came up with.
Learning and developing our skills and knowledge is a core part of what we do at RKH. Our away days are going to be fantastic opportunities for learning and development, and we’re privileged to be able to get together in cool places and spaces to do it. Everything we do on our away days - whether its guest speakers or workshops - will help us in our day-to-day work and ensure we can deliver even more for our clients. There’ll be no dull lectures, no tedious tests or tasks - we’ll all be taking useful things away every time and having fun whilst doing it.
As we recently said goodbye to our beloved office on Pocklingtons Walk and became a fully remote agency, these away days are going to serve a vital purpose - getting us all together to catch up, enjoy some food, drinks, and a laugh. We’ve got a fantastic culture here at RKH, and while we’re still connected every day online via Slack and virtual meetings, each RKH away day will ensure we keep up the all-important in-person social side of work.
