You’ll also get a flavour for our culture – which we’d describe as friendly, welcoming, honest and respectful as well as fun, weird, wonderful and a little offbeat!

But don’t just take it from us, hear from a few members of the team on why they enjoy working at RKH and what they have to say about us.

1.You’ll work hard, but have a lot of fun too

We’re an agency team with a big commitment to our clients – that takes a lot of hard work and collective effort. But whilst we’re all mucking in, we also have a laugh at life, ourselves and the world. But we’re also keen to make sure what we do never feels bland, corporate or uncaring.

“We work hard to make our clients happy, but we do have a lot of fun doing it.” says Tracey, our Office Manager.

Do expect: to play your part but have a giggle in the process

2. Your skills will be developed

We’re members of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) {link} which in practical terms, means that every RKH employee has access to a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program, including accredited training and skills building to boost your CV.

Alex from our PR team has personally and tangibly benefited from training:

“I had limited experience in my field when I joined RKH, and regular training has really helped me to progress to a level where I am comfortable managing high profile accounts and leading on strategy for clients.

As well as external training we also have a huge range of skills within the agency, and we make sure to hold regular in-house training sessions to help everyone learn new things and develop their own abilities.”

Don’t expect: team-building exercises to create a bridge out of toilet tubes

3. We’ll look out for you

Your wellbeing at work is important to us – we actively want to know how you are, if anything is troubling you and if you need support. Where we can, we’ll do our best to make sure you’re well looked after.

Each of our team leaders has been through specialist Mental Health training, which means you’ll always have someone to talk to who knows how to help you with your feelings at work.

Harshul, who heads up our Digital team shares his experience:

“A huge part of my role is to listen and help my colleagues, where I can, with them managing their wellbeing. There’s not a one-size-fits-all approach for helping somebody. Different people have different needs, and this training has allowed me to better recognise those, as well as giving me the chance to build my own resilience.

Having completed the training, I feel even more confident and comfortable in supporting others, making sure I’m available for those who need to chat or providing sources of support and information if they’re looking for further assistance.”

Do expect: a cup of tea, a confidential chat and a hug if you need it

Don’t expect: to be told to ‘man up’ and get on with it

4. You’ll feel part of something special

“RKH has the best company culture of anywhere I’ve worked. I joined during lockdown and was blown away by how great the togetherness was whilst working from home, which takes some doing.” says James from our Account Management team.

Whilst many of us are still remote working, we retain a strong bond – helped by monthly staff meetings at the office, when we like to congregate in person to catch up, usually over a few pizzas and a lunchtime beer/wine/soft bev.

Do expect: a bunch of friendly folks and regular socials including big old messy summer and Christmas parties

Don’t expect: every man for himself or a dog-eat-dog structure

5. You can choose where and how you work

Since the pandemic we’ve continued offering fully remote working to our whole team. We don’t expect anyone to come into the office if they don’t want to, but if they do, that’s awesome too.

There’s a mutual trust amongst everyone in the agency to get the job done, and if that means you sometimes need to shuffle around your day to fit in life stuff, we understand, as long as clients are attended to and deadlines are met.

Many companies claim to offer a flexible working policy but there are often stipulations or restrictions attached. At RKH the word ‘autonomy’ pops up a lot, too.

Sophie Jackson from our PR team says “Our way of working at RKH is truly flexible, so no week looks the same. I personally love going into the office regularly to catch up with everyone and enjoy the facilities but, if I decide that I need a day at home with my head down, I don’t need to ask for permission - it’s really refreshing!”

Do expect: to be able to work from where you want, as long as you do your work and keep clients happy!

Don’t expect: to be obliged to go into the office for X number of days per week

6. Your hard work will be rewarded

Many of our team have been with us for 5+ years and our longest-standing employee has been with us since the 1980s!

“If you bring commitment and contribution, energy and enthusiasm, you’ll see the rewards”, says Katie Westwood from our Strategy and Planning team. “You get out what you put in. If you show up and commit, you’ll be believed in, encouraged, cheered on and invested in. You’re way more than a number here”.

Don’t expect: to be made CEO in your first six months ;)

7. You’ll love our office space

“Our space has been designed to feel as much like home as possible, but also a space that can both inspire and invigorate our team of creative people. Situated in the heart of Leicester we’re surrounded by a continually changing vibe that suits our needs perfectly.” says Paul Petherick, one of our Directors.

Do expect: an amazing location, cool secret rooms, lots of cosy corners

Don’t expect: suspended ceilings and strip lighting

8. You won’t find any egos here

One of our internal mantras is quite frankly, ‘Don’t be a dick’.

This phrase really sums up our intolerance for anyone who thinks it’s OK to start throwing their weight around to get what they want.

Neil in our Digital team agrees. “The team look out for and support each other – there’s no big egos dictating things or riding roughshod over things. People all get to have a voice, contribute ideas and thoughts without the fear of not being listened to.”

Don’t expect: anyone to be a dick to you

9. You can do good for a cause close to your heart, on us

Supporting our local community is hugely important to us, and we know how much it means to our team to help their favourite causes, too.

We’ve recently introduced a new scheme for employees to receive a day of paid leave to volunteer for their favourite local charity.

Keiran Gohill, Senior PR Account Executive explains:

“The new Give Back Days incentive has spurred me on to organise an event that brings together my personal passions as well as gets RKH involved in supporting a worthwhile cause in my community”.

Do expect: to have the space and support to do good

Don’t expect: to swap your charity day for your own holiday!

10. You’ll enjoy an early finish on Fridays

If your application is successful, you’ll get access to a pretty awesome perk called RKH Fridays.

This means as long as all of your client work is wrapped up, you can head to the pub for after-work drinks or start a long weekend away a little early.
